I had the honor of meeting Paul at various design conferences around the world and had the privilege of visiting him at the Sandoll offices in Seoul, where we spent valuable time discussing work and life. In 1984, Paul Geumho Seok established Sandoll as the first Korean font foundry. Over time, the company became the leading provider of Hangul fonts, developing fonts for tech giants such as Samsung, Apple, Google, LG, and IBM, thereby removing barriers to expression. Paul was a pioneer in the industry, a leader, and a friend, committed to excellence, and he leaves behind a remarkable legacy.

One of my most memorable encounters with Paul was at the first Fontstand conference, where he not only showcased Sandoll’s work but also charmed and entertained attendees with his singing in the evenings.

We will miss Paul terribly and express our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends.

The fonts mentioned in this article are available to rent by the month for a fraction of their retail price on Fontstand.
